“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Being successful is daunting. You work your whole life for one goal, one passion, and the thought of achieving it is what really keeps you going. But when you get there you find that you pause, because what happens next? You worked hard for the promotion and when you get it you panic, because what if you aren’t good enough? What if you don’t do well? What if your employees don’t like you? The list goes on. You begin to question your ability to do the job and whether you really want it at all, because the thought of actually achieving your dreams is so intimidating. It happens to most people, so don’t feel strange. This is the moment where most people’s confidence waivers, because they are entering new territory. Everything you’ve done up until this moment you've had the confidence you could do. You knew even if you’d never done it before that it was something you’d be great at, just because you knew your own self-worth.
It’s important to keep this confidence going into your success. At the beginning, the nerves will knock on your door, asking you if you really want this, but you have to remember everything you’ve gone through to get there. Remember everything you had to conquer, master, and overcome to become who you are. Don’t question whether you went after the wrong dream, or if this is something you really want just because you’ve never done it before. Remember all the things you’d never done before this moment that you conquered without even thinking twice. Remember how good you are at what you do. You got the opportunity because you are the best and that’s not just something you solely believe, but it’s believed by everyone that outranks you. It’s believed by everyone who has already been where you are.
You deserve this, so don’t succumb to your fear of not being good enough. Don't worry about what happens when you've achieved the goal you've worked your whole life for. Life doesn't end there, you just develop a new dream and keep working. Don’t worry about how your new status will affect your relationships. If the people in your life are really there to support and uplift you they will do just that and not be intimidated or jealous of your greatness. They will use your confidence and drive to help them discover and foster their own. Never be afraid of how great you can be. Never be limited by your fears. Reach for the stars and don’t come down until you’ve conquered the universe. Stay confident. Stay strong, and most of all, Be You.
